One Journey, Six Partners: Meet the Team Behind NextGEN Tourism

Every tourism business succession is a journey, and so is every European project. NextGEN Tourism brings together six organisations from six countries, each carrying a different part of the load, from regional development and academic research to digital learning, business consultancy and communication. Here is who we are.

Development Centre of the Heart of Slovenia - Slovenia

Our coordinating partner has been bringing development projects to life since 2000, working with a network of 426 organisations across 36 countries and 57 international projects. The Centre connects local economies from the ground up, from municipalities and tourism providers to entrepreneurs, bringing exactly the local-to-European perspective tourism succession demands.

MCI Management Center Innsbruck - Austria

A leading Austrian university of applied sciences with an entrepreneurial spirit and strong research expertise in family business, the heart of the succession challenge. MCI grounds the project's resources in evidence about how families navigate handover, and where it goes wrong.

Gairmeach Training Limited - Ireland

A specialist in vocational education, future skills and educational technology, Gairmeach is the project's digital learning and technical development partner, leading the build of the Knowledge Hub and ensuring every resource is accessible, practical and engaging.

The University of Akureyri - Iceland

From the north of Iceland, a pioneer of flexible and distance learning serving communities across a vast rural geography, precisely where family tourism businesses anchor local economies. The university brings academic depth and a real regional perspective to the project's frameworks and training.

Momentum Educate + Innovate - Ireland

An Irish adult education and social innovation organisation with over 20 years of experience turning research into practical learning tools, working with more than 50 partners across Europe. Momentum makes sure the project's results reach the tourism owners, successors and educators who need them.

The Vision Works - Germany

An impact-oriented consultancy specialising in crisis management, restructuring and ESG transformation for SMEs, TVW transfers real consultancy experience into free educational resources, ensuring our succession tools reflect how SME handovers actually work in practice.

Stronger together

Six organisations, six countries, one shared conviction: Europe's family-run hotels, restaurants and tour companies deserve better than to close for want of a plan. Follow our progress here and on LinkedIn, and explore the project at nextgentourism.eu. The journey has only just begun.
